After guiding umpteen students to success in Engineering and Medical Entrance Exams, Lakshya has now undertaken the task of guiding students to excellence in their school Board Exams. Lakshya is proud to announce the launch of its School Wing on 25th December 2015 at Thapar University in Patiala.

Lakshya, the MT Educare wing that provides coaching for JEE (Main & Advanced), Engineering, & Medical entrance exams, organized a seminar for the students of Standard 10 who have expressed an interest in pursuing Science.

The two-stage Joint Entrance Examination for admission into the country’s IITs and NITs will undergo major changes in the future if the Centre accepts the a series of recommendations of a high-powered committee. The new rule will come into force from 2017.

These suggestions have been made to put an end to the race for engineering seats. Under the new rule, students will have to clear an aptitude test to qualify for the JEE Main examination. In an announcement on Saturday, the HRD ministry said that by early 2016, a National Testing Service will be set up to conduct the aptitude test, which can be taken two or more times in a year. “This shall test scientific thinking, which no amount of coaching can teach,“ said a senior ministry official.

The decision was taken by an expert committee set up by the ministry to reform the engineering exam methodology. The committee was headed by former IIT Bombay director Prof Ashok Misra. The panel has asked the IITs to develop a system so that they can take mock JEE exams and needn't study in coaching institutes. The possibility of using the Massive Open Online Courses platform can also be explored, the committee said.

Based on the aptitude test performance, about four lakh candidates will be shortlisted for the IIT JEE. The JEE, however, will continue to be on the same lines as it is at present. The current system is being slightly tweaked. JEE 2016 will have an enhanced intake from 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh students into the JEE (Advanced) stage. The weightage given to Board marks in JEE (Main) will not continue for 2016.
